What Do You Do Away From Work?

In my free time, I love heading to Lake Nacimiento with family and friends. Whether it's jet skiing, wakeboarding, fishing, or cliff jumping, there’s always an adventure waiting out there.

I'm passionate about collecting anything with an engine! My collection includes six vintage jet skis, two vintage boats, and a variety of quads and dirt bikes. I love restoring these machines to their original glory.

What I love most about this industry is the opportunity to help people while challenging myself and putting my knowledge to the test. The sense of achievement and accomplishment drives my growth and keeps me motivated every day. In the end, there's nothing more rewarding than seeing a happy customer.

I chose Shift'N Gears as my home base to grow my career and knowledge. Jimmy and Leigh-Ann have been incredible mentors; this shop feels like home, with a supportive team, great work ethics, and even humor during stressful times.

What Do You Do Away From Work?

My favorite activities outside of work are spending time with my wife and daughter. Whether it’s going to the beach, hiking, or just relaxing at home watching movies, I cherish every moment with them.

I'm a homebody at heart, enjoying the comfort of staying in and relaxing, but I also have a strong craving for adrenaline-fueled adventures. It’s ironic because I love the calm and quiet of home, yet I can't resist the thrill of activities that push my limits and get my heart racing.

Why Did You Choose the Automotive Industry?

I love that my job combines critical thinking with hands-on physical work, keeping me active and engaged. Every day brings something new, with the chance to say, "I've never seen that before."

It’s also a great excuse to buy new tools, and I’m fascinated by how a single car brings together so many industries—electrical, plumbing, HVAC, IT, and mechanics.

Being an ASE certified technician since 2007 and a Master and L1 Advanced holder since 2012, my ideal shop needs to check certain boxes; especially putting their customers first, Shift’N Gears does all that. Jimmy's podcast, The Gearbox, made my decision even easier as it displayed everything I value.

What Do You Do Away From Work?

Outside of work, I really enjoy disc golf, I was hooked at 18 as a broke college student looking for fun and purpose. My first course was rated third best in the world.

I also love woodworking now that I am older. I collect scrap wood and build various things that help my family or others; chicken coops; dog whelping box, and sheds.

What I love most about the industry is that no job is ever the same, especially with ever evolving vehicle technologies, keeping my on my toes and interested. Beyond that, the human element and the customer service needed is fun for me, I am a social guy.

I chose Shift'N Gears Auto Repair because I moved to the North County after I bought my first home and wanted to go somewhere, where I could be proud of my accomplishments and skills. Their high customer ratings was the first green flag and after meeting the owners, I knew it was the right choice.

What Do You Do Away From Work?

I love my family and pets, I spend as much time with them as I can, on top of being a YouTube Content Creator for sharing and selling collector toys and cards.

I have always loved cars and car culture, but what I love most about this industry is that everyday is a little bit different from the next. No boring office job for me. I get to be intellectually challenged and social at the same time.

As an advisor I am the ambassador for the company so it is important for me to be somewhere that aligns with my values, morals and ethics. Shift'N Gears mirrors what is important to me, this allows me to be comfortable in my professionalism.

I love live music events! It's a shared social experience that is a whole sensory experience; physical, emotional and mental.

My Dad is a Vietnam Veteran and we started working on cars together when I was a teenager. He is the main reason I got into this industry.
